Frequently Asked Questions

1. How many people are allowed onboard a Marine Club boat?

This depends upon the boat being hired. On the Gala RIB the limit is six. On the Saxdor the limit is four. This includes the Skipper.

2. Is there a minimum age limit?

On Marine Club boats there are no age restrictions, Babies may be taken onboard however we would strongly recommend keeping a close eye on the weather forecast. We do not provide baby life jackets, so you would have to provide your own.

3. Does everybody onboard have to wear a life jacket?

Yes. Life jackets/buoyancy aids are mandatory for everybody onboard. If you do not have jackets, these can be hired at a charge of £5 per jacket per session. Please remember to add these when making a booking.

4. Can we take a dog onboard?

Yes dogs can be taken onboard Marine Club boats, but we recommend they were a life jacket.

5. Are there any restrictions regarding where we can go?

The Marine Club boats are only able to operate within categorised waters, meaning they are limited to the Menai Strait This offers over 20 miles of coastal waters on which to explore, from Puffin Island at the north east end to Llanddwyn Island at the south west entrance.

6. Is fuel included?

50 litres of fuel is included in a half day rental and 75 litres is included in a full day rental. In our experience this is more than adequate for each session. You will be charged the current fuel price for any fuel used above these thresholds. The current fuel price can be found in the boat yard office.

7. How do we book a Marine Club boat?

Once you become a Marine Club member, you will gain access to the Members area of the Marine Club website where you will be able to check boat availability and book online.

Members who purchase a package will have the relevant credit applied to their account, which can be used to book the sessions included within their package.

8. I have used all the sessions included in my package. Can I book additional sessions?

Yes. Additional sessions can be booked on a PAYG basis online.

9. What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

If you cancel your booking we will apply the paid credit to your account to be used against a future booking. You will be able to see this credit when you log into your account.

Do you offer any additional powerboat training?

Yes, we run a variety of RYA powerboat courses and encourage all members to improve their powerboat driving skills and knowledge. See RYA Training for details about the courses on offer.

If you do not want to do a specific certified training course we can tailor powerboat training to suit your needs and requirements. This is charged at £45 per hour, plus the hire of the boat.

We will send you a reminder a month before your membership is due to expire. Membership can then be renewed by calling the office and paying the membership fee.

If you renew your membership within one month of the original expiry date, you will be able to carry any unused sessions over to your new membership. If you do not renew your membership, any unused sessions will be lost.
