Frequently asked questions

How many people are allowed onboard a Marine Club boat?

All our Marine Club boats are limited to 6 persons onboard including the driver

Are there restrictions regarding where we can go?

All Marine Club boats are restricted to MCA categorised waters. so must only operate within the Menai Strait. This provides approx. 20 miles of coastal waters on which to explore and have fun.

Do we need to pay for fuel?

Up to a point no – with reasonable use of speed and range, our boats will generally consume under 50 litres within 3hrs of use.  Anything over that is charged at pump rates.  For a full day the limit is 75 litres.

How do we book a Marine Club boat?

You can book a Marine Club boat by calling the RibRide office on 0333 1234 303. Payment is required at the time of booking.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

If you cancel your booking we will apply the paid credit to your account to be used against a future booking. In this case, please call the office to rebook, so the credit can be applied to your new booking.

Does everybody onboard have to wear a life jacket?

Do you have any spare life jackets?

We actively encourage all members to provide their own lifejackets, however we understand you may want to bring friends and family out and may not be able to provide life jackets for all on board. In this case you can hire additional life jackets up to a maximum of four. These are charged at £5 per jacket. If you require additional life jackets, please request these when making a booking.

Is there a minimum age limit?

On Marine Club boats there is no age limit, however we do not have any baby life jackets, so these would have to be supplied by yourselves. However we would strongly recommend exercising caution if you are bringing a very young child onboard.

Do you offer any additional powerboat training?

Yes, we run RYA powerboat courses and encourage all members to improve their powerboat driving skills.  See our RYA training for availability and dates. However, if you do not want to do a specific certified training course we can tailor powerboat training to suit your needs and requirements. This is charged at £45 per hour, plus the hire of the boat.

I damaged the boat whilst on charter. What happens now?

Like all hire agreements, you are liable to pay for any damage up to a max of £1000, caused to the boats whilst under you care. Repairs are charged at cost for parts and £45 per hour labour.

How do I renew my membership?

We will send you a reminder a month before your membership is due to expire. Membership can then be renewed by calling the office and paying the membership fee.
